About the Opportunity

Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced Outreach Tutor to start in January 2026 in the Macclesfield and Cheshire East area. The role involves delivering 1:1, bespoke education to young people with complex needs who are currently unable to attend school.

Responsibilities

  • As an Outreach Tutor, you will plan and deliver highly personalised lessons in core subjects such as English and Maths.
  • Many of the students you support may have significant additional needs, including requiring adult care for mobility, possibly using wheelchairs.
  • Beyond academic support, you will be reintroducing structure and routine to the students' day, focusing on both academic and life skills development.
  • Prospero Teaching will work closely with you to track progress and provide ongoing support to ensure effective learning outcomes.

Contract / Position Details

  • Location: Community-based or within pupils' homes in Macclesfield and the Cheshire East area
  • Position: Outreach Tutor (Complex Needs)
  • Full-time / Part-time: Part-time, 15‑25 hours per week
  • Minimum Rate of Pay: £25 - £30 per hour
  • Hours: 1‑3 hours per session

Experience, Training, and Qualifications

  • QTS, QTLS, PGCE, EYFS, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working in a UK school or with SEN learners
  • Experience with Makaton and/or PECS (highly desirable)
  • Up‑to‑date Safeguarding training (desirable, but not essential)

To Be Eligible for This Role, You Must:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service (or be willing to process a new application)
  • Provide two professional child‑related references from the last two years
