Complex Needs Outreach Tutor needed in Manchester. Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced Outreach Tutor to deliver bespoke education packages on a 1:1 basis to young people with complex needs who are not currently attending school.

Responsibilities

  • Create, plan, and deliver highly personalised lessons that focus on building confidence and engagement in core subjects such as English and Maths.
  • Reintroduce structure and routine into the student’s day, supporting both academic and life skills development.
  • Adapt lessons to meet individual needs, with potential use of communication systems such as Makaton and PECS (highly beneficial).
  • Monitor progress with Prospecto Teaching and provide ongoing support to ensure effective learning outcomes.

Contract/Position Details

  • Location: Within the community or pupils' home in Manchester
  • Position: Outreach Tutor (Complex Needs)
  • Type of work: Part-time, around 15 - 25 hr p/w
  • Minimum rate of pay: £25 per hour
  • Hours: Minimum 1 hour per session, maximum 3 hours per session

Experience, Training and Qualifications

  • QTS, QTLS, PGCE, EYFS or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months experience working in a UK school or with SEN learners
  • Experience with Makaton and/or PECS (highly desirable)
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable but not essential)

Eligibility for Role

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child-related references that cover the last two years
