Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
- Deliver one-to-one and small group support within the classroom and during intervention sessions
- Support pupils with learning, emotional regulation, and social development
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation, delivery, and classroom management
- Follow and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs), behaviour support plans, and SEN strategies
- Observe, monitor, and record pupil progress, feeding back to teaching and SEN staff
- Help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (school-based experience preferred)
- A sound understanding of a variety of SEN needs and appropriate support approaches
- A patient, calm, and empathetic manner
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Flexibility to adapt to different schools, classrooms, and pupil needs
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
- Relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or SEN
- Experience working in primary and/or secondary school settings
- Training in behaviour management, safeguarding, or autism support
