About the School

Are you an energetic, resilient and compassionate PE Teacher with a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are working with a specialist SEMH provision in Bury that uses sport and physical activity as powerful tools to re-engage students with education. The school provides a structured, supportive, and nurturing environment where physical education plays a key role in building confidence, self-regulation, and positive relationships. The provision is well-resourced, highly supportive, and focused on helping students develop resilience, teamwork, and a sense of achievement through sport and movement.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive PE lessons tailored to students with SEMH needs
  • Use sport and physical activity to promote emotional regulation, teamwork, and positive behaviour
  • Create a safe, structured, and motivating learning environment
  • Adapt activities to meet a range of abilities and emotional needs
  • Assess progress and celebrate individual achievements
  • Work closely with support staff, therapists, and pastoral teams

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience working with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour (desirable)
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • A genuine passion for using PE to support wellbeing and personal development

To be eligible

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the update service OR be willing to apply for a new one
  • Provide two professional child-related references
