A Burnley primary school is looking to appoint a caring and reliable Early Years Support Assistant to support children joining Reception in September 2026. The children will not yet be school-ready and will be under assessment for additional needs. This role focuses on helping children settle into school, develop routines and access early learning with the right support in place.

Responsibilities

  • Support children as they transition into Reception
  • Work with the class teacher to provide daily classroom support
  • Offer one-to-one and small-group support as needed
  • Help children with behaviour, communication and emotional regulation
  • Support personal care, routines and independence where required
  • Observe children and contribute to assessment evidence
  • Work closely with staff and parents

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience working with young children (EYFS or SEN experience preferred)
  • Patient, calm and caring
  • Understands child development and early learning
  • Can build positive relationships with children

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
