A college based in Wirral is seeking a caring, motivated, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join our Learning Support team. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Assist learners with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, learning difficulties, and emotional or behavioural needs
  • Support students in classroom activities, workshops, and independent learning sessions
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to adapt learning materials and promote inclusive learning
  • Encourage student confidence, independence, attendance, and engagement
  • Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate support records
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and student wellbeing at all times

About You

  • Has experience working with young people or adults with SEND
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
  • Can build positive and professional relationships with students and staff
  • Is organised, adaptable, and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Has a commitment to inclusive education and student success
  • Holds (or is willing to work towards) a relevant Teaching Assistant or Learning Support qualification

  • Knowledge of EHCPs and SEND support strategies
  • Experience within further education, schools, or alternative education settings
  • Behaviour management and pastoral support experience
  • Functional Skills English and Maths support
