Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, proactive and enthusiastic Class Teacher to promote the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational Alternative Provision Settings in Billingham on a full‑time and long‑term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long‑term, positive impact on their lives, progress and development. All Subject specialisms will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Plan and teach engaging and informative lessons that inspire pupils with SEMH, allowing all pupils to make progress.
- Work with secondary‑aged pupils who have been excluded from mainstream schools and have SEMH and SEND of varying levels, as well as challenging behaviour.
- Build positive relationships with pupils and Teaching Assistants to create excellent learning environments.
- Manage challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner.
- Differentiating lessons appropriately to engage pupils and suit the needs and learning styles of all pupils.
- Use varied methods of assessment to assess pupil progress.
- Work effectively with Teaching Assistants to ensure children receive the best possible educational experience.
About the School
- Role based in an inspirational PRU setting in Billingham.
- The school supports pupils across the secondary school age range who have SEMH and challenging behaviour.
Pay, Hours and Contract
- Pay: Between £130‑£200 per day.
- Hours: 08:30‑16:00.
- Contract: Full‑time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2026. For the right candidate, a permanent job offer may be made.
- Start date: ASAP.
- Location: Billingham.
Experience / Qualifications and Requirements
- An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential).
- QTS and teaching experience in either SEND, Primary or Secondary school settings within the UK.
- Strong behaviour management skills.
- Experience of utilising a range of methods to assess pupil progress.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with an ability to build rapport.
- A positive and resilient attitude towards teaching and work.
- Experience of teaching within the UK.
- A genuine passion for teaching and building relationships with pupils who face barriers to learning.
