Are you an experienced, passionate and proactive Teacher who is looking to make a long-term difference to the lives and progress of young people who face barriers to learning? Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, proactive and enthusiastic Class Teacher to promote the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational Alternative Provision Settings in Billingham on a full‑time and long‑term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long‑term, positive impact on their lives, progress and development. All Subject specialisms will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach engaging and informative lessons that inspire pupils with SEMH, allowing all pupils to make progress.
  • Work with secondary‑aged pupils who have been excluded from mainstream schools and have SEMH and SEND of varying levels, as well as challenging behaviour.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and Teaching Assistants to create excellent learning environments.
  • Manage challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner.
  • Differentiating lessons appropriately to engage pupils and suit the needs and learning styles of all pupils.
  • Use varied methods of assessment to assess pupil progress.
  • Work effectively with Teaching Assistants to ensure children receive the best possible educational experience.

About the School

  • Role based in an inspirational PRU setting in Billingham.
  • The school supports pupils across the secondary school age range who have SEMH and challenging behaviour.

Pay, Hours and Contract

  • Pay: Between £130‑£200 per day.
  • Hours: 08:30‑16:00.
  • Contract: Full‑time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2026. For the right candidate, a permanent job offer may be made.
  • Start date: ASAP.
  • Location: Billingham.

Experience / Qualifications and Requirements

  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential).
  • QTS and teaching experience in either SEND, Primary or Secondary school settings within the UK.
  • Strong behaviour management skills.
  • Experience of utilising a range of methods to assess pupil progress.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with an ability to build rapport.
  • A positive and resilient attitude towards teaching and work.
  • Experience of teaching within the UK.
  • A genuine passion for teaching and building relationships with pupils who face barriers to learning.
