An inclusive college in the Wirral is seeking an enthusiastic and supportive SEND Learning Support Assistant to join its dedicated Learning Support department. Main Duties

  • Deliver individual and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Assist learners with a range of additional needs including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties
  • Support students during lessons, practical activities, and independent study
  • Work alongside teaching staff to adapt learning materials and ensure accessibility within the classroom
  • Promote learner independence, confidence, attendance, and active participation
  • Record and monitor student progress and support outcomes
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment at all times

Candidate Profile

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has previous experience supporting learners with additional needs
  • Demonstrates empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Is able to develop positive and professional relationships with students and colleagues
  • Can work effectively both independently and within a team environment
  • Is passionate about inclusive learning and student achievement
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant or Learning Support qualification, or is willing to work towards one

Desirable Qualities and Experience

  • Knowledge of EHCPs and effective SEND support practices
  • Experience within education, further education, or alternative provision settings
  • Understanding of behaviour support and pastoral care
  • Ability to support Functional Skills delivery in English and Maths
  • Aware of safeguarding responsibilities and Prevent Duty
