Our supply agency is currently recruiting an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work full-time within a SEND college in Stockton-on-Tees, with the opportunity to become permanent directly with the college following a successful period. This is a rewarding role for a dedicated professional who is passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in a structured college environment.
The Role:
- You will be supporting students with a range of SEND needs on a 1:1 and small group basis.
- Some learners may display challenging behaviour, so prior experience and confidence in behaviour management is essential.
- The role also includes personal care, which candidates must be comfortable providing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing tailored support to students with SEND in a college setting
- Supporting learning, independence, and social development
- Delivering personal care support where required (essential)
- Managing and responding to challenging behaviour in a calm and positive manner
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams
- Ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and inclusion of all learners
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience working with SEND students
- Comfortable and confident providing personal care
- Experience supporting individuals who may display challenging behaviour
- Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Desirable:
- Experience within a SEND college or post-16 setting
- Behaviour management training (e.g. Team Teach or similar)
- Relevant qualifications such as CACHE, Health & Social Care, or equivalent
