Overview

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team of professionals at a forward-thinking school in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire. Our client is seeking a skilled and empathetic Autism Learning Support Assistant to work full-time, supporting students with autism and helping them reach their full potential. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of Β£105 per day.

Role and Environment

As an Autism Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for students on the autism spectrum. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualised learning plans tailored to each student\\\’s unique needs and abilities. By providing one-to-one support and small group interventions, you will help students build their social, communication, and academic skills, fostering their independence and self-confidence. The school offers a supportive and collaborative working environment, with access to ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting students with autism in their learning and development, both in and out of the classroom
  • Collaborating with teachers to differentiate lesson plans and create accessible learning materials
  • Implementing behaviour support strategies and positive reinforcement techniques to manage challenging behaviours
  • Providing personal care and assistance with daily living skills, as required
  • Maintaining accurate records of student progress and communicating regularly with parents and carers
  • Participating in meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities

Qualifications

  • A minimum of NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g. education, childcare, or health and social care)
  • Experience working with children or young adults with special educational needs, preferably those with autism
  • A good understanding of autism and its impact on learning and development
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with students with diverse needs
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
