ABA Support Assistant

ABA Support Assistant

Full-Time On-site
S

Every child learns differently. As an ABA Teaching Assistant, you'll help children and young people with autism and other additional needs build the skills that matter most to them: communicating, becoming more independent, making friends and learning.

You'll deliver 1:1 and small group sessions using Applied Behaviour Analysis, with a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) or ABA programme supervisor guiding you throughout. No two days are the same, and you'll get to celebrate every small win along the way.

This position will be full time, five days a week. The school is situated in the Hackney Borough.

  • Run individualised ABA programmes, from discrete trial training (DTT) and natural environment teaching (NET) to play-based learning
  • Help children develop communication, daily living, social and early academic skills
  • Use AAC, PECS, visuals and other tools to give every child a voice
  • Put behaviour intervention plans and positive reinforcement into practice
  • Respond to challenging behaviour with de-escalation and, where trained, positive handling
  • Record accurate session data on progress, prompts and behaviour
  • Join team meetings and supervision, and act on feedback from your supervising analyst
  • Work alongside teachers, parents, carers and therapists, including speech and language and occupational therapy
  • Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times

What we're looking for

You’ll need:

  • Experience with children or young people, ideally with autism or additional needs (paid or voluntary)
  • A calm, positive and consistent approach
  • A willingness to learn and apply ABA techniques with coaching
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • An understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality

It’s a bonus if you have:

  • RBT (Registered Behaviour Technician) certification or ABA training
  • A Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Health and Social Care or similar
  • Experience in a special school, ABA school, SEN unit or home-based ABA programme
  • Team Teach, MAPA or similar (we can provide training)
  • Knowledge of PECS, Makaton or AAC
  • A degree in psychology, education or a related subject
