About the Role

The role will involve supporting a pupil with ASD who is also non-verbal. The role will also involve working alongside the Class Teacher to plan and deliver inspiring learning activities that are suited to the needs and learning style of pupils. A key part of the role will be to develop an understanding of the needs and learning style of the pupil, working closely alongside Class Teachers and colleagues to establish routines and strategies that allow the pupil to make progress.

The role is based in an inspirational Primary School in Newcastle. The role is to support a pupil in KS2 on a 1:1 basis.

Pay, Hours and Contract

  • Pay: Between £95-110 per day
  • Hours: 08:30-15:30
  • Contract: Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2026. For the right candidate, there is the strong possibility of the role becoming permanent.
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Location: Newcastle

Experience / Qualifications and Requirements

  • A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired)
  • Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Ability to drive and access to a car (desired)
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional references that cover the last two years
