We are working with a structured secondary school in Deptford, Lewisham looking for a SEMH Teaching Assistant who can handle challenge without escalating situations. The school needs someone who can stay calm when pupils test boundaries. This is a long-term role starting in September 2026, with strong potential to continue across the academic year. You will be supporting pupils who need clear boundaries, calm adults and consistent routines. Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with SEMH, behaviour needs and additional learning needs
- Helping pupils stay regulated and engaged in learning
- Working with teachers, pastoral staff and behaviour leads
- Long‑term, consistent work rather than random day‑to‑day cover
Qualifications
- A calm, firm and reliable personality
- Experience in schools, youth work, mentoring, PRU/AP or behaviour support
- Someone who can de‑escalate, not inflame situations
- Thick skin, patience and a professional mindset
