We are looking for a skilled Liferay Platform Engineer to join one of our leading clients in the UK. This is a long-term freelance opportunity for professionals who enjoy managing and evolving platforms rather than developing from scratch.
Location: Glasgow or London, UK
Hybrid Model: 50% on-site, 50% remote (Must reside in or near either city)
Start Date: ~ July 2nd, 2025
Rate: ~£300/day (freelance)
Contract Duration: ~ Initial 6 months, with strong extension possibilities
About the Role: The Liferay Platform Engineer will support the operational stability, performance, and technical evolution of the Liferay platform. You will collaborate with development teams but focus on platform engineering and system operations — not development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, configure, and maintain the Liferay platform (ideally DXP)
- Manage deployments, patches, and version upgrades
- Monitor performance and troubleshoot incidents
- Integrate with authentication systems, monitoring tools, and APIs
- Ensure compliance with operational and security standards
- Support change rollouts and technical documentation
Requirements:
- ~3–5+ years of experience in Liferay platform engineering or similar
- ~ Hands-on experience with Java-based platforms and API integration
- ~ Strong Linux system administration skills (Red Hat, etc.)
- ~ Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, etc.)
- ~ Experience with monitoring/logging tools and system tuning
- ~ Excellent problem-solving skills and team collaboration
- ~ Fluent English
- ~ Based in London or Glasgow — hybrid onsite attendance required
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Liferay DXP
- Knowledge of containerization tools (e.g., Docker)
