We are seeking a skilled and proactive Onsite Support Engineer based in the UK with hands‑on experience in laptop configuration, imaging, and large‑scale device rollout projects. This role involves supporting store IT setups, infrastructure deployments, and network implementation projects across multiple retail locations. The successful candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent coordination skills, and experience working with third‑party vendors, procurement teams, facilities teams, and project stakeholders in a fast‑paced retail environment. The Onsite Support Engineer will work closely with the Project Team, Facilities Team, and IT stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of store technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform laptop configuration, imaging, and provisioning using enterprise deployment tools
  • Execute large‑scale rollouts of laptops and end‑user devices across multiple store locations
  • Ensure all devices are deployed in compliance with organizational security and IT standards
  • Provide onsite support to end users during and after deployment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues as required
  • Support new store openings, relocations, and refurbishments by installing and configuring IT infrastructure
  • Assist with network deployments, including routers, switches, Wi‑Fi access points, and connectivity validation
  • Coordinate onsite activities to ensure smooth implementation and successful go‑live of store systems
  • Validate infrastructure readiness and support issue resolution during deployment activities
  • Participate in store‑level IT rollout projects, ensuring timely and high‑quality execution
  • Monitor deployment progress and provide regular status updates to project stakeholders
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve deployment‑related issues while minimizing business disruption
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful delivery against project timelines
  • Coordinate with third‑party vendors for hardware delivery, cabling, and network installation activities
  • Liaise with procurement teams to ensure timely availability of equipment and materials
  • Work closely with project managers, facilities teams, store teams, and IT leadership to support project objectives
  • Ensure effective communication between all stakeholders throughout deployment activities
  • Maintain accurate records of device inventories, configurations, deployments, and asset assignments
  • Create and maintain deployment documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base articles
  • Document lessons learned and recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies, security standards, and audit requirements

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience with laptop imaging, configuration, and provisioning
  • Experience with Microsoft Autopilot, SCCM, Intune, or similar endpoint management tools
  • Windows operating system experience (mandatory)
  • macOS support (preferred)
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of networking concepts (LAN, WAN, Wi‑Fi, DHCP, DNS)
  • Experience supporting store‑level IT infrastructure deployment hardware and software troubleshooting
  • Proven experience supporting device rollout and deployment projects
  • Experience with store IT implementations, site rollouts, or multi‑site technology deployments
  • Previous exposure to retail, hospitality, or customer‑facing environments is highly desirable
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently in onsite environments
  • Excellent organizational and documentation capabilities
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting retail or hospitality organizations
  • Knowledge of POS systems and store‑related technology platforms
  • Experience working on regional or global IT deployment projects
  • Relevant certifications are advantageous, including: Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator, Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+

Working Conditions

  • Primarily onsite role with regular travel to store locations across the UK
  • Flexibility to work outside standard business hours when required to support store openings, upgrades, or rollout activities
  • Ability to work in dynamic environments with changing project priorities and timelines
