AAC Teaching Assistant – NewhamLocation: NewhamContract: TemporaryPay: £105–£135 per day PAYEThe opportunityA specialist SEN school in Newham needs a Teaching Assistant who can help pupils use augmentative and alternative communication confidently throughout lessons and everyday school routines. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and complete Senovo’s safeguarding and compliance process, including suitable references and an enhanced child-workforce DBS check. What you will do
- Support pupils to use agreed AAC systems consistently across the school day.
- Prepare symbols, communication boards and accessible classroom resources.
- Model clear communication strategies under teacher and therapist guidance.
- Record useful observations about engagement, choice-making and progress.
- Promote independence while maintaining patient, respectful support.
What you will bring
- Experience supporting communication needs in education, care or therapy settings.
- Familiarity with AAC, visual communication or a strong willingness to develop these skills.
- Reliable teamwork, professional boundaries and safeguarding awareness.
- QTS is not required for this classroom-support role.
