Sennos is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to serve as the sole owner of our accounting function. This is a high-impact individual contributor role — you will build and operate the processes, controls, and reporting infrastructure that underpin a growing company spanning both manufacturing and SaaS. You will report directly to the Director of Finance and work closely with external auditors and contractors to keep the financial backbone of the business strong and audit-ready.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full accounting function end-to-end, including AP, AR, GL, invoicing, credit and collections, inventory and tax compliance across all operating states.
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly and annual close process with accuracy and timeliness in accordance with US GAAP, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations and financial statements.
  • Build and maintain a manufacturing cost accounting framework, including inventory management, cost allocation and reverse logistics tracking.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales and Production to ensure accounting processes, tracking systems and controls are embedded in day-to-day operations and continuously refined to keep pace with business growth.
  • Oversee revenue recognition across both manufacturing and SaaS lines of business, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Design, document and continuously improve accounting SOPs and internal controls appropriate for a scaling company — with an eye toward audit readiness and risk mitigation.
  • Serve as the primary accounting liaison for external audits, tax advisors and banking relationships, coordinating all deliverables and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, monitor capital spending and support treasury and banking activities in partnership with the Director of Finance.
  • Prepare operational and financial reports for management and support ad hoc financial analysis and process improvement initiatives as the business evolves.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including demonstrated ownership of the full close process and financial reporting.
  • Ability to work independently as the sole accounting staff member with the potential to build and lead a team as the business scales.
  • Skills: Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and audit preparation. Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar mid-market accounting platforms; advanced Excel skills. High degree of ownership and process orientation to build and fortify structures, document and communicate as you go, and actively improve the processes as the business grows. Effective communicator who can translate accounting complexity for non-finance stakeholders and collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors and senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing accounting, including cost accounting, inventory management, and variance analysis.
  • Experience with ERP systems and a track record of system migrations or implementations; familiarity with transitioning from mid-market platforms such as QuickBooks.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • This is primarily a desk-based role with the following physical requirements: Ability to sit/stand for extended periods. Ability to occasionally visit manufacturing or warehouse facilities on-site. No significant lifting or physical demands beyond standard office activity.
  • Work environment details: Hybrid – Durham, NC (in-office presence preferred; remote flexibility available). Minimal travel expected; occasional visits to manufacturing facilities may be required.
