Temporary Sennie (SEN SPECIALIST/NANNY/MANNY) for B5. Mildly autistic with challenges relating to social communication and emotional regulation.

Location: London, N5

Days & Hours: Approx 30 hours per week (Temporary for Summer Term) Monday - Friday: 8.30am - 2.30pm

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2+ years SEN childcare experience
  • Experience supporting children with demand avoidance, anxiety, or rigidity, using calm, flexible and child-centred approaches.
  • Background in teaching or homeschooling Reception-age children, with a solid understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) or Key Stage 1 curriculum.
  • Ability to deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning in phonics, early maths, and knowledge and understanding of the world through creative, play-based methods.
  • Confident in tracking progress and supporting key developmental milestones in communication, cognition, and social skills.
  • Patient, nurturing, and emotionally attuned, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships.
  • Creative, proactive, and able to make learning enjoyable while maintaining appropriate structure and boundaries.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent daytime care and support during the summer term, ensuring B5 is safe, engaged, and emotionally supported.
  • Plan and deliver a structured, engaging home-learning programme aligned with Reception-level expectations, including phonics, early writing, maths, and understanding of the world.
  • Adapt learning to B5’s interests (particularly transport and role play) using creative, play-based and hands-on approaches to maximise engagement.
  • Establish and maintain a predictable daily routine, using clear signposting and visual or verbal cues to support transitions and reduce anxiety.
  • Support emotional regulation through calm, consistent and empathetic strategies, helping B5 manage frustration and adapt to changes in routine.
  • Facilitate development of social communication skills through play, modelling, and supported interactions, including turn-taking, shared attention, and understanding social cues.
  • Incorporate guidance from Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy into daily activities, supporting communication, sensory regulation, and overall development.
  • Organise and accompany B5 to enriching outings (e.g. parks, museums, local activities), supporting safe access to the community and broadening experiences.
  • Monitor, track and communicate B5’s progress, challenges and achievements with parents, contributing to a consistent and collaborative approach.
  • Create a nurturing, structured and stimulating environment that supports B5’s confidence, independence and enjoyment of learning.
