A Sennen Education Mentor is enthusiastic about improving the livelihood and life chances of children. They have a powerful impact on young people’s lives, through being a consistent, friendly and trustworthy influence.

The main aim of a school Mentor is to reduce the harmful effects of Social Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties that currently affect the Learner. This is a key role in ensuring that the young person’s current situation does not have a long-term damaging effect on their education and overall wellbeing.

School Mentor Core Responsibilities:

· Driving responsibilities

· Mentor young people

· Review EHCP/ Behaviour and use findings to inform the construction of a positive behaviour scheme

· Become a positive role model for the young person

· Liaise with SENCo, Classroom Teacher and any other key professionals in pupil\’s education, to inform them of progress .

· Provide discreet, one to one support or small group support to the learner/s

· To be resilient and able to take regular responsibility for agreed learning

· An ability to build strong, trusting relationships

To join us and be successful in this role, you will need:

* A minimum of six weeks experience of supporting young people which you can evidence with references.

* Enhanced DBS certificate (or be happy to pay for a new one)

* Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks

* Provide a CV with up to date employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained

* Have the legal right to work in the UK

Safeguarding children is at the heart of what we do and we undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current, enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. We offer all our registered candidates free safeguarding and prevent duty training
