The Buyer leads day-to-day procurement activities, including stock planning, purchasing, sourcing, negotiating and order placement. Working cross-functionally with other teams to optimise stock levels, quality, cost and lead time. Adoption of a Kaizen mindset is essential to help us deliver continuous improvements, cost-saving initiatives and sustainability within the supply chain.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Processing/monitoring SO’s for intercompany business and PO’s for the vendors, maintaining accurate records of orders, prices and delivery schedules in the ERP system.
- Develop and manage relationships with the suppliers ensuring the competitive cost, optimized lead time and reliable services to achieve the best customer satisfaction. Regularly review the high runner items, identify opportunities to further negotiate pricing/terms with the suppliers. Monitoring the supplier performance and manage any non-conformance.
- Maintaining product knowledge and recommending alternatives to internal stakeholders based on the stock, cost, lead time etc., Understanding of the assembly drawings and cost structure and support through RFP process to deliver verified cost in a timely manner.
- Optimising and replenishing stock via the most cost-effective way with the analysis of the usage and the input from sales. Regularly review the excess/slow moving stock and identify the opportunities to clear the stock.
- Creating parts/BOMs (Bill of Materials) with the product knowledge by following global P/N scheme and drawings, maintaining accurate item record (description, status, price, etc.) in ERP system.
- Maintaining data in the ERP (Netsuite) and stock management system (Netstock), to improve the system effectiveness.
- Continuously review the supply chain practice and identify new/modified methods to improve efficiency
- Ensure all relevant activities are compliant with company policies, procedures and legal requirements
Key Skills and experience:
- 3+ year experience in technical purchasing/procurement role within a fast-paced manufacturing or engineering environment. Multinational environment is preferred.
- Experience in purchasing and managing complex components and bespoke products.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/specifications, Solid understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM) structure and Experience in creating and managing part numbers in ERP systems.
- Skilled in cost breakdown analysis, commercial negotiation.
- Strong understanding of stock control, inventory accuracy, and replenishment processes.
- ERP/MRP proficiency (Ideally Netsuite/Netstock).
- Experience involving in project management or NPD (New Product Development) preferred.
- Knowledge of import/customs procedures preferred.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Mandarin or Japanese language skills are a plus.
