Senior Salmon are seeking a confident and capable Supervisor to join a luxury textiles manufacturer based in Sutton-in-Ashfield. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a leadership role within a growing business entering its peak period. You’ll be supervising a team of 10+ operatives working across guillotines, glue machines, sewing machines and other production equipment. The role combines hands-on production work with leadership, planning and supporting the Production Manager.
Role Overview
- Team supervision — Leading a team of 10+ production operatives across multiple textile machines and workstations.
- Luxury textiles — Working with high-quality fabrics and materials, ensuring standards remain consistently high.
- Supporting the manager — Assisting with daily schedules, handling queries, freeing up the manager’s time and ensuring smooth workflow.
- Hands-on production — Stepping in on guillotines, glue machines, sewing machines and other equipment when needed.
- Peak-period operations — Helping the team meet tight deadlines and maintaining strong output during the company’s busiest season.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily scheduling — Organising workloads, planning tasks and ensuring staff are allocated effectively.
- Quality control — Maintaining high standards across luxury textile products.
- Training & guidance — Coaching team members, providing direction and ensuring safe, efficient working practices.
- Machine oversight — Supervising guillotines, glue machines, sewing machines and other production equipment.
- Problem solving — Handling queries, resolving issues and keeping production running smoothly.
- Hands-on support — Assisting on the shop floor when required to maintain workflow and meet deadlines.
Required
- Confidence in leadership — Able to guide a team, make decisions and communicate clearly.
- Strong organisation — Comfortable planning schedules and managing multiple tasks at once.
- Deadline focus — Able to work under pressure and maintain output during peak periods.
- Hands-on approach — Willing to support production tasks when needed.
Additional / Beneficial
- Textiles background — Helpful but not essential; full training is provided.
- Machine experience — Experience with guillotines, glue machines or sewing machines is an advantage.
- Leadership experience — Any previous supervisory or team-leading background is beneficial.
