Role Purpose: The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and Quality Management System requirements while driving a data-driven, zero-defect culture across the business. Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Customers, and Suppliers, the role supports product conformity, process capability, risk reduction, and continuous improvement through structured problem solving, quality planning, auditing, and statistical analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards across products, processes, and the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Drive a Zero-Defect Culture through continuous improvement, defect prevention, and risk-based thinking, reducing process variation, COPQ, scrap, rework and customer escapes.
- Lead structured root cause investigations into customer complaints, quality escapes, supplier issues, and internal non-conformances, utilising structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis and DMAIC.
- Support daily Material Review Board (MRB) activities, ensuring timely containment, risk assessment, disposition, and reduction of non-conforming products.
- Facilitate cross-functional problem-solving activities, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are robust, sustainable and implemented in a timely manner.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by ensuring effective deployment of quality planning and risk management tools, including PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Validation, APQP deliverables and Production Readiness Reviews.
- Compile First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 and customer requirements, ensuring timely submission.
- Prepare, review and coordinate product concessions, deviation permits and any RFI from customer.
- Develop and maintain quality documentation, procedures, inspection plans; ensuring document control, traceability, and configuration management.
- Drive a data-driven approach to quality management through the deployment of Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability monitoring (Cp/Cpk), Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
- Plan, conduct, and support internal audits, ensuring effective closure of findings and continuous compliance.
- Manage supplier quality performance through audits, corrective actions, performance monitoring, and supplier development initiatives.
- Act as the Voice of the Customer by promoting customer requirements, product conformity, and quality performance throughout the organisation.
- Develop and maintain quality KPI and visual management tools that support fact-based decision‑making and continuous improvement.
Desirable: Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt qualification, Lead Auditor qualification.
