Purpose of Role
To run & understand fully the new chemical process plant and water treatment plant. Whilst supporting the production of components through the chemical processing area to ensure they conform to customer requirements in addition to quality, cost & delivery targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture aerospace components using chemical processing techniques in accordance with customer specifications and Quality procedures.
- Accurately interpret and complete production, technical documents and route cards.
- Maintain and monitor the chemical storage area, ordering and maintaining stock.
- Monitor and top up tank levels as required.
- Sample, test, analyse and adjust process solutions’ mix as required to maintain the required ranges.
- Calibrate the pH probe(s) and complete conductivity determination.
- Log parts in and out of process area.
- Load parts into and unload parts from fixtures/basket.
- Create and amend programs to run the process line.
- Control of test pieces - (canban management).
- Run test piece programs for Etch rate, Hydrogen, Alpha Case and IGA determinations.
- Troubleshoot, complete failure investigation and root cause analysis to solve issues and continually improve processes.
- Raise QNs as required.
- Monitor the DI water.
- Mix lime for the effluent process.
- Manage waste and control the effluent process.
- Complete Daily/Weekly/Monthly Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM).
- Change the process tank (monthly).
- Keep process line clean.
- Clean the filter press (daily/weekly).
- Complete proactive preventative maintenance.
- Preparation for and involvement in internal and Nadcap audits.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards of the work area implementing Safety + 5 S methods (Sort, Set, Standardise, Shine, Sustain).
- Achieve company work & quality standards by applying your skills and knowledge and taking pride in your work.
- Participate in team-based activities to meet productivity and on time delivery targets.
- Work in line with the Company Values (Safety, Accountability, Respect & Trust, Integrity, Excellence, Customer Focus) and demonstrate the associated behaviours in your daily work.
- Consistently follow Health, Safety & Environmental procedures, including following data cards and wearing the required personal protective equipment provided.
- Complete training as required and apply the learning in performing operations to demonstrate competence.
- Complete all reasonable management requests.
Key Requirements
- Comfortable working with hazardous substances whilst maintaining a high level of concentration.
- Able to read and interpret technical documentation, visual aids and data sheets.
- Able to work accurately and in a timely manner using own initiative with limited supervision.
- Confident making simple mathematical calculations.
- Good computer literacy with a competent knowledge of Microsoft 365, Word, Excel etc.
- Good level of physical fitness and application of manual handling techniques due to lifting requirements in the role.
- Willing to engage in Continuous Improvement projects.
- Flexible in working hours to undertake a rotating shift pattern and support business needs by working overtime when required.
- Punctual.
- Experience with chemical processing would be advantageous however full training will be given.
- Familiarity with wet chemical analysis techniques such as titrations.
