The predicted salary is between 35000 - 45000 £ per year.

To support the engineering functions within LPE to program, set and prove new products on various machining centres and lathes. To develop and improve concurrent production and best practices, whilst maintaining a high quality of standards.

Hours of work: 39 hours per week. Dayshift – Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.30pm and Friday 8.00am to 1.00pm with 30‑minute unpaid break for lunch.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering solutions utilising online and offline CNC programming from customer drawings and models.
  • Set‑up & Prove out programs on 3, 4 & 5 axis machining centres to a production standard.
  • Create detailed manufacturing process plans, routings, and load to ERP system (IFS).
  • Provide documentation to allow shop personnel to complete their respective operation, including tooling, fixtures, gauges, and set‑up sheets to aid manufacture.
  • Review existing CNC programs and method of manufacture and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop best practices to improve production capacity, quality, and reliability.
  • Investigate problems, analyse root causes, and derive resolutions.
  • Work in close liaison with the Engineering team, Production & Shop Floor.
  • Support and provide information to the Quality / Inspection department when required.
  • Manage workload distribution within the Engineering department under the guidance of the Engineering Manager.
  • Produce detailed 2D dimensional stage drawings and 3D models to aid manufacture.
  • Review and create plans, specifications and other Customer documentation if requested.
  • Design fixtures to aid manufacture working in conjunction with the engineers on the shop floor.
  • Maintain notes on design, tooling, and other documentation (drawings, bill of materials, calculations etc.) for future reference.
  • Comprehend and document the effect(s) of treatments and coatings on different materials to produce conforming parts.
  • Other tasks to be performed as assigned by Engineering Manager.
  • Ability to train others.

Key skills and experience:

  • Must have the right to live and work in the UK (Essential).
  • Minimum 5 years manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Create programs, solid/surface models & drawings in CAM system.
  • Work with a wide range of materials to tight tolerances.
  • Good understanding of G, D & T.
  • Able to work within a team and on their own.
  • Must have a strong passion for product and process excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Able to programme, set & operate 3, 4 & 5 axis on Mill / Turn Mazak Integrex machines.
  • In‑depth knowledge of engineering processes, materials, and treatments.
  • CAD / CAM Training – Mastercam (Desirable).
  • Good working knowledge of ERP system (IFS). (Desirable).
  • Able to produce drawings / models accurately to ISO and ASME Y14.5 Geometric Tolerancing. (Desirable).
  • Programme, set & operate 3, 4 & 5 axis machines with Mazak, Fanuc & Heidenhain controls. (Desirable).

Qualifications:

  • Basic O’ Level / GCSE Qualifications, technical qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Proficient in standard Microsoft office software applications.
  • Security Clearance (Desirable).
  • Apprentice trained. (Desirable).
