Job Description
CMM Inspector – What does the job involve?
The main purpose of the position is to ensure components are inspected to drawing tolerance, specifications, efficiently and accurately with a high attention to detail.
Ensure that robust inspection practices and techniques are employed in an efficient manner for all customer products.
To fully support the manufacturing process and ensure production is not delayed.
Hours of work
39 hours per week.
- Dayshift
- Monday to Thursday 6.45am to 3.30pm and Friday 7.00am to 1.00pm with 30‑minute unpaid break for lunch.
CMM Inspector – What will my responsibilities include?
- Inspect parts, using CMM or manual methods, adjusting CMM programs
- Multiset CMM’s When Required.
- Perform in process, first off and final inspection activities on all products and evaluate conformance to engineering requirements
- Ensures all quality related matters are raised during Inspection to the Quality or Production Team for resolution.
- Maintaining a quality first outlook on all inspection activities and decisions made
- Ensures that all documentation and reports are maintained and completed accurately. This could be updating PCP’s, Critical feature requirements and FAIR Data.
- Raise nonconforming material/products and support corrective action activity / investigations when required.
- Proving out CMM programs
CMM Inspector – What key skills and experience do I need?
- Must have the right to live and work in the UK (Essential)
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience working within a high precision manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in alternate controls software to create programs for inspection.
- Previous experience working in a similar role.
- Understanding of CMM Best practice techniques.
- In depth knowledge of GD & T.
- Work to high level of accuracy.
- Understanding of drawing tolerances & specifications.
- Proficient in the use of IT software, including Word & Excel.
- Working knowledge of Mitutoyo CMM’s using COSMOS Platform – desirable.
Qualifications
- Recognised CMM Training or Programmer/operator training.
- ONC/HNC level or equivalent certified internal auditor (desirable)
- Full apprenticeship/time served in machining or relevant skills applicable to the role (desirable)
- Security clearance (desirable)
