Key Responsibilities:
- Develop & Implement Quality: Create quality standards, procedures (SOPs), and testing methods for products and processes.
- Standards & Quality Systems: Develop and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with standards like ISO 9001, VDA 6.3 and IATF 16949.
- Testing & Inspection: Oversee product inspections, test processes, and monitor production for malfunctions or inefficiencies.
- Problem Solving: Investigate product complaints, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions for defects (8D methodology).
- Data & Reporting: Analyse quality data, track KPIs, and generate reports for management.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry regulations, legal standards, and customer specifications.
- Collaboration: Work with production, R&D, suppliers, and leadership to build quality in from the start.
- Supplier Quality: Coordinate with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming raw materials and components.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of QMS, APQP, PPAP, statistical analysis, testing methodologies, process flow diagrams, and relevant software.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, teamwork, and self-motivation.
- Education: Qualification in an Engineering discipline to HNC level or equivalent.
- Experience: Experience of at least 2 years in a similar role. Experience of working within manufacturing and a Quality Engineering function.
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to read technical drawings (GD&T) and use measurement tools like Micrometers, Callipers, CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines) and 3D Scanning Systems.
- Standards: Certified Auditor for ISO 9001 / IATF 16949.
Typical Duties in Practice:
- Performing in-process, final, and receiving inspections.
- Evaluating supplier quality and raw materials.
- Training employees on quality procedures and safety.
- Supporting external & internal audits.
- Collate Production and Supplier Data for the Quality Manager to present in Plant Review.
- High consideration to HS&E standards in all activities.
