The business is based in Royston, Hertfordshire, UK, approximately 35 miles north of London. Thermal Engineering operates from a 6500m² (70,000 sqft) purpose-built aerospace manufacturing and assembly facility that was opened in 2005. The business provides a complete service from supply chain management, tooling development and design, manufacturing, post-forming treatments and quality testing facilities to ensure that customers receive innovative, practical and cost-effective solutions.
Job Description
Reporting to – Maintenance Facilities Supervisor
Purpose of Role
Working as part of the maintenance and facilities team, ensuring that plant, equipment and facilities on site are maintained and are running correctly and safely. Ensure that all work carried out in a professional and safe manner and in accordance with current regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure Health & Safety is adhered to and is a high priority in the work areas.
- Electrical and Mechanical maintenance and repair of plant, equipment and facilities on site.
- Installation and replacement of equipment.
- Electrical and Mechanical fault finding on plant.
- Machine and plant installation, replacement and repair ranging from high value projects to smaller improvement projects.
- Perform planned, preventative maintenance tasks to the prescribed schedule.
- Assist with maintenance site facilities ranging from infrastructure, communal facilities to include WC’s, drainage and groundworks.
- Perform all reasonable requests made by management.
Key Requirements
- Ideally City & Guilds/NVQ Maintenance or similar discipline qualified.
- Time served apprenticeship or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Electrical/Mechanical experience in manufacturing machines, involving PLC controllers, hydraulics and pneumatics, fault finding and repair.
- PLC fault diagnosis, (Omron, Rockwell, Mitsubishi desirable).
- Positive, problem-solving attitude and willing to learn new skills.
- Be able to contribute to and work within a small team, whilst still able to work on own initiative.
- To be flexible with working hours to support planned repairs and unplanned breakdowns.
- You may be required on occasion to perform ad hoc responsibilities to support business needs.
- Resourceful and able to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a positive attitude and possess a strong work ethic.
Desirable
- Experience and knowledge of lean engineering principles and techniques.
- 18th Edition - Level 3 Electrical Installations Award - BS7671:2018.
- Omron PLC experience and knowledge.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace or automotive, particularly hot, and cold forming presses or process control, chemical.
- Experience working with and supervising external contractors.
- Experience working with chemical processing.
