We are supporting a leading manufacturing and engineering environment with the appointment of a Quality Control Inspector on an initial 6-month contract. This role is focused on ensuring incoming materials and components meet engineering, dimensional, and quality standards. You will play a key part in maintaining product integrity, supporting supplier quality, and ensuring full traceability across all inspected goods. This is an excellent opportunity for a Quality Inspector who enjoys hands-on inspection work, problem-solving, and working within a structured quality management system.
Key responsibilities
- Incoming Goods Inspection and Component Verification: Inspect incoming materials and components against engineering drawings and specifications; ensure compliance with defined material, dimensional, and quality requirements.
- Dimensional, Visual and Functional Inspection of Components: Carry out detailed inspections using measuring tools and test equipment; identify defects or non-conformance during visual and functional checks.
- Engineering Drawings and Technical Specification Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation accurately; ensure all inspection activities align with specification requirements.
- Quality Documentation, Traceability and Record Keeping: Record inspection results accurately and maintain full traceability; ensure documentation is completed in line with quality procedures.
- Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) and Supplier Quality Issues: Identify and report non-conforming materials through NCR processes; gather supporting evidence including measurements, photographs, and test data; work with suppliers and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
- Quality Systems, Compliance and ISO 9001 Standards: Support compliance with internal quality management systems; contribute to adherence with ISO 9001 or equivalent quality standards; assist with continuous improvement initiatives.
- Customer Returns Inspection and Assessment: Carry out initial inspection of returned customer parts where required; assess condition and document findings clearly and accurately.
Skills and experience required
- Previous experience in a Quality Control, Inspection, or Quality Assurance role; open to candidates at any level or length of experience.
- Mechanical Engineering graduates or apprenticeships are welcome to apply.
- Background in manufacturing, engineering, or mechanical environments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience using inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Understanding of quality systems (ISO 9001 desirable).
- Confident using computer systems for reporting and documentation.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
