A well-established UK manufacturing organisation supplying specialist products is seeking an experienced Quality Control Supervisor to support and oversee its Quality Control function. The company continues to strengthen its operational capability and quality systems. As part of this development, they are now recruiting a Quality Control Supervisor to oversee quality activities across manufacturing operations. This role offers the opportunity to support the QC team, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure all products, materials, and processes meet required quality, regulatory, and safety standards. You will take a hands‑on leadership approach, working closely with operations, engineering, and production teams to ensure quality is embedded throughout the manufacturing process, while also supporting the development and performance of the QC team.

Key responsibilities

  • Team Leadership and Development: support, supervise, and develop the Quality Control team; provide training, coaching, and support to QC Engineers, Inspectors, and Technicians; assist in improving skills, performance, and consistency within the team.
  • Quality Systems, Compliance and Procedures: ensure implementation of, and adherence to, company and factory control procedures; maintain compliance with all statutory requirements relating to Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards; work within ISO 9001 and wider quality management systems.
  • Inspection, Product Quality and Standards: ensure raw materials, components, finished products, and traded goods meet quality requirements; maintain consistent quality standards across manufacturing operations.
  • Non-Conformance and Root Cause Analysis: support root cause investigations and implementation of corrective and preventive actions; manage the Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) process including defect handling, rework, and rejection decisions.
  • Quality Performance and Continuous Improvement: monitor and analyse quality KPIs and performance metrics, reporting findings to operations and leadership teams; drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, waste, and manufacturing scrap; support embedding quality into manufacturing processes and product design.
  • Cross-Functional and Customer Support: work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure quality is embedded into processes; support customer communication regarding quality-related issues when required; assist the wider quality leadership team in implementing quality strategies across the business.

Skills and experience required

  • Experience within a quality function in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience at supervisory level or ready to step into a Quality Control Supervisor role.
  • Good understanding of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Technical and analytical skills: technically minded with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; experience investigating quality issues and implementing structured corrective actions.
  • Communication and leadership skills: confident communicator across production, engineering, and management teams; ability to supervise, support, and develop team members effectively.
