A growing manufacturing business in Sittingbourne, Kent is seeking a Quality Control Engineer to support its Quality Control team. Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, you will help ensure that all products, raw materials and components meet the required quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This is a hands-on quality role with additional responsibility for supervising QC Technicians and Inspectors, maintaining testing records, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of quality processes in a manufacturing environment. You will act as deputy to the QC Manager when needed and work closely with the QC team to ensure compliance with company procedures and industry standards. You will also contribute to data analysis, root-cause investigations, and process improvements, ensuring that all testing and inspections are properly logged and maintained.

Key responsibilities:
  • Perform technical validation of products, raw materials including reading technical drawings
  • Act as deputy for the QC Manager when required
  • Analyse data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement
  • Create and maintain testing sheets and SOPs for inspections
  • Support root-cause investigations using problem-solving tools
  • Maintain and improve housekeeping in the Quality lab
  • Ensure all measuring and testing equipment is calibrated and maintained
  • Report all incidents or accidents through the correct channels
What we’re looking for:
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a quality team within manufacturing or a testing laboratory
  • Understanding of inspection, testing, and quality control methodologies
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and reporting skills
  • Capable of working independently or as part of a team under pressure
  • IT literate and comfortable using quality and testing software
Desirable experience:
  • CMM measurement experience
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma principles
  • 5S continuous improvement experience
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and relevant industry standards such as BSI
