A rapidly growing technology business is looking for an experienced FPGA Engineer with experience working RTL (Register-transfer-level) design. This is a rare opportunity to join a highly technical engineering team working on patent-protected power solutions, where your FPGA expertise will directly influence real-world performance and product development.
Responsibilities
- Develop firmware and FPGA requirements in collaboration with Product and Electronics teams
- Produce FPGA requirements documentation and verification plans
- Design and evaluate control algorithms for embedded systems
- Create register maps and supporting technical documentation
- Analyse computational complexity and FPGA resource utilisation
- Design, write, verify, and document RTL modules using HDL (Hardware Description Languages)
- Work closely with hardware engineers to support device selection
- Support board bring-up and assist with system-level verification
You’ll report directly to senior electronics leadership while working closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team.
What we’re looking for
- Strong experience in FPGA and digital design, ideally within embedded or high-reliability systems
- Extensive experience in FPGA / ASIC design and verification
- Strong RTL skills using Verilog, SystemVerilog, and/or VHDL
- A solid understanding of FPGA design fundamentals, including CDC, constraints, STA, and timing closure
- Experience with FPGA toolchains such as Xilinx Vivado, Lattice Diamond/Radiant, or Microchip Libero
- Confidence developing and running simulations and testbenches
- Experience using verification techniques such as UVM/OVM, SystemVerilog assertions, and coverage analysis
- A methodical approach to debugging issues in simulation and on hardware
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively within engineering teams
