We are seeking a Network Engineer (Wireless) to support a large-scale government IT environment focused on mission-critical operations. This role supports enterprise network infrastructure that enables operational readiness, secure communications, and reliable IT services across a complex organization. The Network Engineer will be responsible for installing, managing, securing, and troubleshooting wired and wireless network systems in a highly regulated environment, ensuring compliance with government security standards and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, monitor, and maintain network systems including switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, and network appliances.
- Implement and maintain DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for network compliance.
- Evaluate and respond to network incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Support approved change management processes.
- Design, implement, and manage complex enterprise networks (routing, switching, and wireless).
- Monitor and analyze network activity using SIEM tools to identify and resolve events.
- Implement and manage enterprise security protocols and policies.
- Work with government and internal technical teams to support project objectives and resolve issues.
Technical Expertise
- Networking & Architecture: Advanced routing protocols: EIGRP, OSPF; Switching technologies; Software-Defined Networking: SD-Access, SD-WAN; LAN/WAN planning, design, and implementation.
- Hardware: Cisco Nexus 7000/9000 series; Cisco Catalyst series; Cisco routers (4551, 8500); Cisco Wireless Access Points (9000 series); Aruba Wireless Access Points (AP275, AP375, AP515).
- Software & Tools: Cisco Wireless LAN Controller (WLC); Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE); Cisco Catalyst Center (DNA Center); SolarWinds; Splunk; Aruba Wireless LAN Controller.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related discipline and a minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience with Cisco enterprise networks OR 7+ years of relevant experience in enterprise wired and wireless networking in lieu of a degree.
Required Certifications
Active CompTIA Security+ CE (or higher); Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – Enterprise Core or Wireless.
Security Clearance
Active Top Secret Security Clearance required.
