A brand-new SEMH provision in Essex, is seeking compassionate and committed Teaching Assistants to join their team from September 2025. This is a full-time, term-time only, permanent role.

The school supports up to 30 pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a central role in creating a nurturing, structured learning environment where every pupil is supported to succeed – academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with teachers to deliver differentiated learning
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs in and out of the classroom
  • Help students build confidence, independence, and emotional regulation
  • Foster strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
  • Contribute to behaviour support plans and pastoral care
  • Promote real-world learning and post-16 readiness

Qualifications and Experience

  • A calm, resilient and caring approach
  • Experience working with children or young people (SEMH preferred)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to learn and complete relevant training
  • A commitment to inclusive, trauma-informed practice
  • Enhanced DBS required (or willing to obtain one)
