Job Description

We're looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join a forward-thinking special school in Surrey, supporting pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), physical disabilities, and complex communication needs. This is a permanent, full-time role offering a competitive salary, structured caseload, and one day of remote working per week. The role would suit a Band 6 clinician or an experienced Band 5 ready to grow in a specialist educational setting.

You'll join a collaborative and welcoming therapy team working closely with teachers, teaching assistants, and families to provide integrated, holistic communication support. The school is purpose-built, well-resourced, and committed to person-centred, evidence-informed practice. You'll deliver assessments, develop and review individualised therapy plans, provide training to school staff, and contribute to multidisciplinary reviews and EHCPs.

Key Responsibilities Assess and plan interventions for students with complex communication needs Deliver direct therapy and model strategies for staff and families Work collaboratively with the therapy and teaching teams Support the development and use of AAC systems and alternative strategies Contribute to EHCPs, reports, and multidisciplinary reviews Provide training and advice to school staff Manage and prioritise a varied caseload Qualifications and Experience Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree HCPC registration and RCSLT membership Experience with PMLD, Autism, AAC and physical disabilities Strong collaborative skills and teamworking mindset Excellent communication and organisational skills Knowledge of EHCP processes and specialist education settings Band 6 preferred; Band 5 with relevant experience welcomed SENDirect and our school partners are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
