Are you a dedicated and compassionate teacher with a passion for special education? We’re looking for an enthusiastic SLD Teacher to join a thriving special school in Essex on a full-time, permanent basis starting November 2025.

This is a brilliant opportunity to make a genuine impact on the lives of students with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), supporting their academic, emotional, and personal development through creative and tailored teaching strategies. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to pupils with SLD
  • Support pupils’ communication, sensory, and independence needs
  • Work closely with support staff and therapists to create a holistic learning environment
  • Use a range of assessment tools to track and report progress
  • Foster a calm, structured, and safe learning space
  • Collaborate with parents and external professionals to support pupil development
  • Contribute to the wider school community and its inclusive ethos

Qualifications and Experience

  • QTS or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching pupils with SLD or complex needs
  • Strong classroom management and adaptive teaching strategies
  • Passion for inclusive, child‑centred education
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of SEND strategies, EHCPs, and safeguarding procedures
  • Makaton, PECS, or similar communication tool knowledge (desirable)
