Overview

We are seeking a resilient and passionate SEMH Maths & Science Teacher to join a SEMH school in Harlow. This is a full-time, permanent role available for an immediate start, offering the chance to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who require an alternative to mainstream education.

As a subject specialist, you will deliver both Maths and Science across KS3 and KS4, tailoring your teaching to small groups and individual learners. Lessons are delivered in a supportive, structured environment that prioritises emotional wellbeing alongside academic progress.

This position is ideal for a teacher who thrives on building relationships, adapting their approach, and using creativity to engage students who may have faced barriers to learning. You\’ll work closely with a collaborative team of educators, therapists, and support staff who share a commitment to inclusive and student-centred practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Maths and Science lessons for SEMH learners

  • Track and assess progress, feeding into EHCPs and reviews

Qualifications and Experience

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent
  • Subject knowledge across both Maths and Science at KS3-KS4
  • Experience in SEMH or alternative provision (desirable)
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
