We are looking for a kind, motivated, and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Wallington, working with children who have a range of special educational needs. This role is ideal for someone who has previous experience supporting SEN children and is passionate about helping pupils feel safe, confident, and included in their learning environment.
About This SEN Teaching Assistant Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Wallington, you will provide focused support to pupils who may need additional help with learning, communication, behaviour, emotional regulation, or social development. You will work closely with teaching staff and the wider SEN team to ensure every child receives the right level of support to progress at their own pace.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
- Helping children with SEN access lessons, activities, and routines
- Supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, sensory needs, and learning difficulties
- Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, and confidence
- Helping children manage transitions and changes during the school day
- Supporting communication, emotional wellbeing, and social interaction
- Assisting teachers with adapted resources and classroom support
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and support staff
What We’re Looking For
- Must have experience working with SEN children
- Must have a Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one
- Is patient, compassionate, and consistent
- Can build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Is confident supporting children with additional needs
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills
- Understands the importance of safeguarding and child welfare
- Is committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning
