SEND Teacher (BENL562) Surbiton, England

Send help is looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teacher to support children and young people with special educational needs in a welcoming specialist education setting in Surbiton.

This position is open to candidates with either primary or secondary teaching experience, provided you have strong experience teaching SEN children and a genuine passion for inclusive education.

  • About the SEND Teacher Role
  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons that meet individual pupil needs
  • Teach and support children with a range of SEN needs, which may include ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and communication difficulties
  • Use EHCPs, learning plans, and assessment information to help pupils make progress
  • Create a structured, nurturing classroom where pupils feel safe, supported, and motivated
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, SENCOs, families, and wider school staff
  • Adapt your teaching style to suit different learning levels, abilities, and needs
  • Use positive behaviour support strategies to encourage emotional regulation and engagement
  • Support pupils in Surbiton to build confidence, independence, and key life skills
  • What We’re Looking For in a SEND Teacher
  • Qualified Teacher Status, QTS
  • Experience teaching children with special educational needs
  • Primary or secondary teaching experience
  • A child and adult DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
  • A strong understanding of SEN teaching approaches and inclusive practice
  • Confidence supporting pupils with complex needs, communication needs, or SEMH needs
  • Excellent classroom management and relationship‑building skills
  • A calm, patient, and flexible approach to teaching
