Overview
As a Special Needs Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who have special educational needs, supporting them academically, socially, and emotionally. You may be working one-to-one or in small groups across SEN and Mainstream school settings in St Albans and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with SEN such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and complex needs
- Providing one-to-one and small group support in and out of the classroom
- Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
- Helping pupils regulate emotions and manage behaviour positively
- Supporting independence, confidence, and social development
- Assisting with personal care and mobility where required
- Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs and individual support plans
- Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals

Qualifications / requirements
- Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, or SEN TA experience
- Support work with children or young people with additional needs
- Experience working with children in any capacity (schools, nurseries, youth work, clubs, mentoring, or coaching)
- Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviour or complex needs
