As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Surbiton, you will play a key part in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning and develop socially, emotionally, and academically. You will be joining a school environment where patience, consistency, and a nurturing approach are highly valued.
What You'll Be Doing as an SEN Teaching Assistant
- Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN
- Supporting children with needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, sensory needs, and learning difficulties
- Helping pupils engage with lessons and classroom activities
- Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and communication skills
- Assisting the class teacher with adapted resources and learning tasks
- Helping pupils during transitions, playtimes, and structured activities
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and wider school staff
