Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant in Hayes looking for a rewarding long‑term role supporting children with complex needs? A welcoming primary school in Hayes is seeking a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their specialist SEND Hub and support pupils with a range of additional needs.
The SEND Hub consists of two specialist classrooms:
- Turtles Room – 6‑8 pupils with complex needs, many non‑verbal, some with challenging behaviours; focus on communication, sensory support and personalised learning.
- Owls Room – 6‑8 pupils with SEN and behavioural needs; focus on targeted learning support and behaviour strategies.
Responsibilities
- Rotate between the Turtles and Owls rooms, supporting small groups of pupils.
- Support pupils with communication challenges, including non‑verbal learners.
- Manage and support pupils with challenging behaviours.
- Support structured interventions and classroom learning.
- Work closely with teachers, the SEND Co‑ordinator, and other support staff.
- Create a safe, supportive and inclusive environment within the SEND Hub.
- Assist in planning and delivering meaningful learning experiences.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs.
- Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour.
- Confidence supporting pupils with complex needs or communication difficulties.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach.
- Desirable: experience supporting non‑verbal pupils; knowledge of behaviour management strategies; experience in SEN hubs, ARPs or specialist settings.
