SENDhelp is seeking a passionate and resilient SEND Teacher to join a supportive specialist education setting in Dorking. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated teacher with QTS and experience teaching children with special educational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support children with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and communication difficulties.
  • Use EHCPs and individual learning plans to support pupil progress.
  • Create a calm, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, SENCOs, therapists, families, and wider school staff.
  • Use positive behaviour management strategies to support emotional regulation.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, communication, and personal development.
  • Help pupils feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching children with special educational needs (primary or secondary).
  • A child and adult DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Excellent behaviour management and communication skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • A genuine passion for supporting SEN learners in Dorking.
