As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Dorking, you will support children with a range of special educational needs.
Responsibilities
- Work one-to-one and in small groups with pupils
- Help pupils access learning in a safe, structured, and inclusive environment
- Support children with communication, emotional regulation, behaviour, and social development
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and other support staff
- Help create a positive learning environment where every child feels understood and supported
- Providing tailored support for children with SEN
- Supporting pupils with needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties, sensory needs, and communication needs
- Assisting with classroom activities and adapting learning resources where needed
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
- Supporting pupils during transitions, break times, and structured activities
- Helping implement EHCP targets and individual support plans
- Promoting a calm, safe, and nurturing classroom environment
Qualifications
- Must have experience working with SEN children
- Must have a Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one
- Is patient, caring, resilient, and reliable
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills
- Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Has a good understanding of safeguarding and child welfare
- Is passionate about supporting children with additional needs
