We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive mainstream school. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, including ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, and social, emotional, or mental health needs. You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to ensure that all pupils receive the support they need to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young learners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated learning activities.
  • Adapt materials and resources to meet individual learning styles.
  • Support students in developing independence, confidence and social skills.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being in line with school policies.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, and external professionals to deliver consistent, child-centred support.
  • Contribute to progress monitoring, record-keeping and review meetings.

About You

  • Passionate about inclusive education and supporting students with SEND.
  • Patient, empathetic, and able to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Skilled in using a variety of communication and learning strategies.
  • Calm under pressure and able to use initiative in the classroom.
  • Organised, reliable, and committed to maintaining high standards of support.
  • Previous experience in a mainstream or SEND setting is desirable but not essential. Training and mentoring will be provided for the right candidate.
