About the Young Person

14 years old with complex PMLD needs
-
Visually and hearing impaired
-
Non-verbal, communicates using PECS and Makaton

Tube-fed with additional health considerations (staff wear masks or face shields for safety)

A confident mover indoors; uses a wheelchair outside to prevent sensory overload
-
Loves music, movement, and dancing – a joyful and clever spirit
-
Splits her time between structured learning and sensory/outdoor experiences
Your Role
-
Work 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday (09:00 – 14:00) term time only

Provide 1:1 support during learning, sensory exploration, and outdoor activities

Assist with communication, mobility, and everyday routines

Create a calm, safe, and engaging environment

Support the Specialist Teacher and multi-disciplinary team (OT, Physio, SaLT, Music Therapist, Nurse)

Celebrate every achievement, no matter how small, with encouragement and positivity
About You
We’re looking for someone who:

Has experience (or a strong interest) in working with young people with PMLD, sensory needs, or communication difficulties

Understands the importance of patience, flexibility, and creativity in SEND support

Is comfortable using (or willing to learn) PECS and Makaton
-
Brings genuine kindness, empathy, and a “can-do” attitude

Is a great team player but also confident working independently

Values the small moments of joy that make a big difference
