We are seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated SEND Nursery Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a young learner with additional needs within our nursery setting. This role is ideal for someone passionate about early years inclusion and committed to helping children thrive in a safe, nurturing environment. You will work closely with the class team, SENCo, and parents/carers to support the child’s learning, emotional regulation, communication, and personal development throughout the nursery day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the child’s individual needs
  • Support learning through play-based and child-led activities
  • Assist with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
  • Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs or support plans (where applicable)
  • Encourage independence while ensuring the child feels safe and supported
  • Observe, record, and report progress and concerns accurately
  • Support personal care needs where required
  • Work collaboratively with staff, therapists, and parents/carers
  • Follow all safeguarding and nursery policies

Essential Requirements

  • Kind, calm, and patient nature
  • Experience working with children in Early Years, ideally with SEND
  • Relevant qualification in Early Years, Childcare, or SEND
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience working 1:1 with a child with additional needs
  • Knowledge of visual supports, sensory strategies, or Makaton
  • Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete)

Pay: £106.05 – £117.90 per day
