To support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within a mainstream school setting, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and make positive progress academically, socially, and emotionally.

Supporting Pupils

  • Provide support for pupils with SEND, either on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
  • Help pupils access the curriculum by adapting activities and resources under the guidance of the class teacher.
  • Support pupils’ emotional, social, and behavioural needs to promote positive learning experiences.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and inclusion within the classroom and wider school life.

Classroom Support

  • Work in partnership with the class teacher to support learning activities.
  • Assist in managing behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Prepare and organise resources to support learning.
  • Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and other school activities as required.

SEND Support

  • Implement strategies and interventions advised by the SENDCo and other professionals.
  • Observe, monitor, and record pupil progress and share feedback with relevant staff.
  • Support the use of specialist equipment or learning aids where appropriate.
