Are you an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference? Do you have a passion for supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities in a nurturing school environment?
We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated HLTA to join a well-established SEND school. The school supports learners with a variety of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD, and complex learning difficulties.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering planned lessons and interventions, both independently and in collaboration with teachers
- Supporting pupils with a wide range of SEND needs, including 1:1 and small group support
- Leading activities to help pupils develop independence, confidence, and social skills
- Managing behaviour using calm, consistent, and positive strategies
- Assisting with personal care where necessary, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
- Contributing to planning, assessment, and record keeping to monitor pupil progress
- Collaborating closely with teachers, therapists, parents, and other professionals to support holistic pupil development
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Significant experience working as an HLTA or experienced Teaching Assistant within a SEND setting
- Strong understanding of SEND and associated strategies to support learning and behaviour
- Confidence delivering lessons and interventions independently
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Experience with communication aids such as PECS, Makaton, or visual timetables is highly desirable
- Relevant training such as safeguarding, Team Teach, or ASD awareness
Requirements
- Valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
- HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
