Job Title: SEND Specialist Support
Location: Standish
Hours: Monday to Friday, 12:00pm – 3:00pm
Start Date: ASAP
Setting: Mainstream School
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated SEND Specialist Support professional to join a mainstream school in the Standish area on a part-time basis.
This role involves providing targeted support to children with complex needs and disabilities, including pupils who are non-verbal and those who may present challenging behaviour. The successful candidate will be confident in using effective strategies to de-escalate behaviour and support emotional regulation, while promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with complex SEND
* Support non-verbal pupils using appropriate communication strategies (e.g. visual supports, PECS, AAC)
* De-escalate and manage challenging behaviour using positive behaviour approaches
* Work closely with class teachers, SENDCOs, and external professionals
* Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural needs during the school day
Essential Requirements:
* Previous experience supporting children with complex needs and disabilities

* Proven ability to de-escalate challenging behaviour calmly and effectively
* A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
