We are seeking an exceptional Head of SEND to lead and drive our vision for inclusion, ensuring every child receives the support, opportunities and high-quality education they deserve.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence SEND provision across multiple schools, working alongside senior leaders to raise standards, remove barriers to learning and improve outcomes for some of our most vulnerable learners.

As Head of SEND, you will provide both strategic and operational leadership, championing inclusive practice and ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice while developing a culture where all pupils can thrive.

The Role

  • Reporting to the Director of Inclusion and Belonging / Deputy CEO, you will:
  • Lead the Trust-wide SEND strategy and drive continuous improvement across all schools.
  • Quality assure EHCPs, provision maps, support plans and intervention programmes.
  • Monitor attainment, attendance, behaviour and progress of pupils with SEND and disadvantaged learners.
  • Develop the leadership capacity of SENDCOs through coaching, mentoring and professional development.
  • Support schools in preparing for Ofsted, Local Authority and SEND reviews and inspections.
  • Oversee alternative provision, inclusion pathways and reintegration programmes.
  • Analyse SEND and pupil premium data to identify trends, address gaps and improve outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with Headteachers, Senior Leaders, Attendance Leads, Behaviour Leads and Safeguarding Teams.
  • Promote evidence-informed, research-led teaching strategies that improve outcomes for learners with additional needs.
  • Provide expert guidance on statutory SEND responsibilities and emerging national developments.
  • Be a visible and proactive leader across the Trust, supporting schools to deliver outstanding inclusive provision.

About You

  • We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced educational leader who:
  • Has substantial experience leading SEND provision within a school or multi-school setting.
  • Possesses an excellent understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current SEND legislation.
  • Has a proven track record of improving outcomes for pupils with SEND and other vulnerable groups.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Is skilled in analysing data and translating findings into meaningful improvement strategies.
  • Has experience of supporting schools through inspection and quality assurance processes.
  • Is committed to inclusion, equity and ensuring every child can achieve their full potential.
  • Builds strong relationships with staff, families, external agencies and wider stakeholders.
